With season eight of the competition here and gone we have heard “American Idol” winner Kris Allen talk about his “Idol” experience and debut album quite frequently. But, very rarely have we seen Kris’ wife, Katy, open up to the media. We here at AI Now were lucky enough to experience just that recently.

Q. Do you notice any differences between pre-”Idol” Kris and post-”Idol” Kris?
A. Yes. His clothes are tighter, his hair is more spiky, and he has become very witty with all his practice on twitter.

Besides the AI stylists, who could possibly be responsible for these changes? hmmm….

Q. Does Kris have any annoying habits?
A. Yes, sometimes when I’m trying to talk to him about something he will just sit there and pick on his guitar. It will be totally obvious that he is in another world. Oh well, I guess that’s what you deal with being married to a musician.

Apparently there was an earlier version of “The Truth” that was more piano-driven, which GF preferred.

With the American Idol tour starting this weekend, it’s amazing I had some time to catch up with Katy Allen, wife of winner, Kris Allen. Of course, I was crazy-excited to get a chance to chat fashion with her because Katy has always looked super-chic on the show! So how long does it take her to get ready and how does she shop? I’ve got the answers for you here (who knew Kris was so picky?!)!

• I am most happy when I am wearing my… Riding boots – They are so comfortable and worn in – I wear them way too much. (i think needs to wear boots!)
• My favorite drugstore beauty brand is… Revlon – I love their eyeliner!
• I am absolutely addicted to… My eyelash curler – I have the straightest lashes.
• Three designer clothing brands I drool over are… Catherine Malandrino, Alice and Olivia and Milly!
• I own __pairs of jeans. I have no idea…but I have about five I tend to wear the most. (Better than who wears like 1 all the time!)
• If I could be a shoe, I would be a… Gladiator sandal; trendy but casual. : )
• My typical morning routine takes about ____minutes. An hour – or more if I’m really doing my hair because it’s so long!
• When it comes to style, I like to… Be comfortable but also take some risks!
• My worst beauty habit is… Going to bed with eye makeup on when I’m really tired.
• For a night out to dinner with Kris I might wear… A flirty dress and flats or boots (I hardly wear heels around him because I don’t like to feel taller). (awww doesn’t like the top. No wonder is so fascinated!)
• When I shop for Kris, I generally buy… Nothing! He has a stylist that does MUCH better than me! : ) Kris is actually really picky so it’s hard to shop for him.
• My fav celebrity’s style is probably… Nicole Richie – I love how effortlessly and uniquely she dresses.

JustJared has pics of Hot Pocket and at Madeo for dinner in Beverly Hills on Sunday. Green Fairy loves her some highwaist, doesn’t she? Please, Adam, intervene and mix up her wardrobe a bit. Some highwaisted stuff can be cute, but not an entire wardrobe. Is it because she’s shorter and feels it makes her legs look longer? And Hot Pocket: just because you are from Arkansas doesn’t mean you have to wear plaid 6 out of 7 days of the week. He must have gotten a new plaid for his b-day because I haven’t seen this one before. Let’s hope some new jeans (preferably picked out by Adam) were on the list as well.

But Kris Allen isn’t like most guys and not just because he won this year’s “American Idol.” He says he wasn’t bothered that runner-up Adam Lambert said he thought he was hot and had a crush on him when they roomed together during the show. Allen was asked about Lambert’s comments in an article where he let himself out of what essentially was a glass closet, acknowledging that he’s gay. Allen says he thought the idea of Lambert having a crush on him was “so funny,” though he says he “never had a problem” with having a gay roommate during the show. Kris says he and Adam are “really good friends.” As for his wife having a problem with Adam, Kris says his wife told him let Adam know “that she had a crush on him.”
