Carrie Prejean Loves Adam and Thinks Gays Doing Bible Study is Good (but Gay Marriage Still Bad)
Oye. She annoys me. She’s either ignoring the point or missing it. Granted, the TMZ photog confuses her with the Gay Bible Study question. So, let me see. You love Adam. You think he should have won. You’re even ok with him doing bible study with other gay males at his house, but marriage is a big no-no. Ok, sweetie. Thanks.
Gay Marriage Ban Upheld in California

The gay marriage ban was upheld in California today. The only good news is that the 18,000 gay couples who tied the knot before the law took effect will stay wed (good news for Ellen and Portia!). From CNN:
Opponents of the ban argued that the controversial Proposition 8 improperly altered the California Constitution to restrict a fundamental right guaranteed in the state’s charter.
But the court found the measure restricted the designation of marriage “while not otherwise affecting the fundamental constitutional rights of same-sex couples.”
The court, which is dominated by Republican appointees, ruled in May 2008 that the state constitution guaranteed gay and lesbian couples the “basic civil right” to marry. The 4-3 decision came four years after San Francisco began issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
But in November, state voters approved the Proposition 8 ballot initiative 52 percent to 48 percent. The measure provided that only heterosexual unions would be recognized as marriages by the state.
…Justice Carlos Moreno wrote that the measure “violates the essence of the equal protection clause of the California Constitution and fundamentally alters its scope and meaning. The majority’s holding is not just a defeat for same-sex couples, but for any minority group that seeks the protection of the equal protection clause of the California Constitution,” Moreno wrote.
God Loves Fake Boobs…Gay Marriage Not So Much (According to Miss CA)

Shanna Moakler, the co-director of the Miss California pageant and former pageant winner, told Access Hollywood that the Miss California pageant paid for Carrie Prejean’s boob job. Carrie got the implants just weeks before the Miss USA pageant.
“Did you guys pay for it?” Billy Bush of Access Hollywood asked Shanna directly.
“Yes,” Shanna said. “We did.”
The Miss California pageant has been trying to contact her, but failing.
“We’ve tried really hard [to get in contact] and she keeps referring us to her mother and her PR person,” Shanna claimed. “That’s also sad for me… because, you know, there’s no hate here. I don’t hate Carrie Prejean. I supported her and I still stand behind her.”
“Since you can’t communicate, when do you say, ‘Alright, come back and follow the Miss California itinerary and get on board or we’re going to fire you?’” Billy asked.
“I guess we’re all going to have to wait and see how that plays out because I don’t have the answers for that,” Shanna said.
Do you know why they can’t get in touch with Miss CA? Because she’s been focusing all her energy starring in a $1.5 million ad campaign funded by the National Organization for Marriage – that’s why!
According to the group, the ad will call “gay marriage advocates to account for their unwillingness to debate the real issue: gay marriage has consequences.”
Because opposite marriage (marriage between a man and a woman to you normal people) has NO consequences like divorce, cheating, etc. Right? She says:
“I am just here to protect marriage,” said Prejean, 21. “The National Organization for Marriage basically just respects marriages and people who support it. I am here to protect traditional marriage.”
Why don’t you work on the heterosexual marriage divorce rate first and call us back when you’ve gotten that all taken care of – that’s a much larger threat to traditional marriage than gay people ever were.
How Perez Should Have Responded to the Miss CA Controversy
Look, I support gay marriage because well, then me and my girlfriend won’t have to live in sin (hey, Miss CA said I have the right to choose and that whole opposite marriage thing just didn’t work out)! I gave props to Perez Hilton for asking the question and I thought it was especially appropriate given that California just had the whole Prop 8 thing – who better to ask than Miss CA!
Hey, I didn’t like her answer either, but as a long-time pageant watcher, it wasn’t just that I disagree with her opinon. It’s because as a pageant person, she should know her shit and be able to put a few words together to make a sentence.
Perez has made this his big issue now and while I agree it’s good to draw attention to the issue, calling her a “dumb bitch” doesn’t get the point across. This video from Cheeks on the other hand, is pure WIN!
Miss USA Contestants Shoud Not Speak. Ever.
Besides, the fact that the Miss USA pageant still exists, I can’t believe the contestants still blurt out dumbass answers in the same overly nice, fake manner. For once, I’d like one to just get up and either say, “You know, I have no clue what I’m talking about” or speak super bluntly and say, “I’m 100% against that because I’m an intolerant bitch!” That would get my vote.
But no. Here’s Miss California’s answer when asked by Perez Hilton how she feels about gay marriage. She blathers on at first and makes very little sense until she finally states her position sort of wimpily. Americans aren’t able to choose btw, unless you live in one of the states that recognizes gay marriage. Opposite Marriage? WTF is that? (by the way, she means marriage between a man and a woman in case you don’t speak pageantese).
“We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody else out there, but that’s how I was raised.”
Way to take a position, honey! She gets +1 for actually stating she was raised a certain way so that’s why she believes what she does, but she gets -10 for saying “I think I believe” (do you really not know?) and all the other ridiculous things she says.
I Say: Yay for Gays Today!

Say what you will about DC. We have horrible traffic, high cost of living, some really pushy self-absorbed a-holes, and DC residents don’t even have voting representation in Congress (yet), but today the DC Council voted to recognize gay marriages performed in other states.
Gay couples married in other states are currently recognized as domestic partners when they move to Washington. The final vote on the measure takes place next month.
Also today, Vermont became the 4th state to legalize gay marriage.
