Fey said, “You know what Taylor Swift, you stay away from Michael J Fox’s son.”
“Or go for it,” Amy Poehler replied.
“No, she needs some ‘me’ time to learn about herself,” Fey fired back.
And about that Jodie Foster coming out thing, someone pointed out that in 2007 at a Women in Entertainment breakfast, she sorta came out then too, thanking her partner ”my beautiful Cydney” (film producer partner Cydney Bernard) “who sticks with me through all the rotten and the bliss.”
I don’t know if that one just didn’t get much press at the time or why everyone is treating this as new. I sort of thought Jodie was already “out,” but just not super public about it. Last night she said she was single but acknowledged Cydney.
“So I’m just going to put it out there, loud and proud. I’m going to need your support on this. I am… single,” she said, eliciting much laughter and applause.
“There’s no way I could ever stand here without acknowledging one of the deepest loves of my life,” said Foster. “My heroic co-parent, my ex-partner in love but righteous soul sister in life, my confessor, ski buddy, consiglieri, most beloved BFF of 20 years, Cydney Bernard.”
I guess congratulations on coming out…again!
Here’s the video of her in 2007. I see why people didn’t really consider this a “coming out” speech like last night. She just thanks her, but doesn’t really say much more than that.
