Ok, I’m not watching Idol this godforsaken season and the closest I get to this shit is ’s epic recaps (see below) but Little Mullet Lambert was on Ellen today and goddayum, I think I love him. He’s adorable and has a distinctive voice and even his mullet is bearable in the same way that Jared Padalecki’s flippies are bearable because he’s Jared Padalecki.

IDK, guys, IDK….call this my RAAAAGE post….like a week late. LOL.

Here we are again. I said I was gonna leave. I turned off my TV and picked up a book and then I realized…I. CAN’T. REEEAAAD!! OMG!! So I am stuck here in this abusive relationship. I am Tina Turner and Idol is that dude that whooped the shit outta Tina Turner. What’s talent got to do with it? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

And that’s a shame because tonight is Rolling Stones night. Why wasn’t this done last year? They woulda kicked some serious ass! Matt could have sung “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and Anoop could have sung “Brown Sugar” and Gokey could have sung “Sympathy for the Devil” and Scott could have sung “Anybody Seen My Baby” and Lil could have sung “Paint it Black”…

erm……too far? Ok then. Needless to say I am not optimistic that these contestants can do this music catalogue justice and I am ready to let the suckage unfold.

Oh and it’s off to a sucky start indeed as the lame “HERE ARE YOUR JUDGES!!” intro from last year that lasted, oh, about 2 or 3 shows, starts up again with Mr. Cheesetastic Announcer Man and the judges ascending down from the stage like reality show royalty. BOW DOWN IN AWE BITCHES. Then the top 12 come out and the applause is a little too loud for me to buy and they line up and quickly scatter offstage as a clip about The Stones begins to play. Good God Mick Jagger is skinny. Excuse me, I am gonna go make myself vomit up my lunch.

First up is Michael Lynche. Little kid pictures display in his intro and…HOLY CRAP THERE WAS A TIME WHEN HE WAS NORMAL PERSON SIZED. Mind has been blown. Oh and his Mom is dead. That sucks man. He does some more pimping of the baby, hoping for the post partum vote, and tonight he is singing “Miss You”. It starts off and he raises his hands to the sky like he is a giant bird, one giant ass bird you wouldn’t want shitting on your car that’s for sure. The song has been reworked to have more of a soulful, R&B feel and he does alot of “whoo-hoooo’s” and “dances” around the stage. But really it’s not so much “dancing” as it looks like what a large animal does right after it’s been hit with a tranquilizer dart.

Randy: YOYOYOYO WASN’T SO CRAZY RANGE YOYOYO DAWG SLAYED IT YOYOYOYO

Ellen: What’s not to love? Amazing and what a way to start the night.

Kara: It’s hard to fill up the stage(not for him really) and you delivered style and swagger and attitude. You were hot onstage.

Simon: You got your confidence up but if I am being honset I thought it was a bit corny. You sang it well but it was verging on desperate.

Ryan’s call to vote: Ellen is that a tie or a scarf you are wearing? OH OH WAIT….RYAN AND SIMON SMACKDOWN HAPPENING RIGHT NOW. OOOH SIMON AND RYAN HOMOSEXUAL INNUENDO. CHANT ALONG WITH ME….LAAAAME.

Next up is Didi Benami. He mother isn’t there because she can’t watch her perform because it makes her “nervous”. Hmmm, likely story. Could it be for other reasons perhaps? Hmmm. As her package continues I am struck with how much she looks like Taylor Swift, and seeing how popular Taylor is this chick could be unstoppable. Oy. She is singing “Play With Fire”, a song I am not familiar with. But it’s slow and kinda dark and surprisingly suits her voice well.  And even though I want to hate it, I really do, I can’t, even if the end gets a bit pitchy. I enjoy that it’s not an expected song choice. And what the fuck is with the mosh pit and the waving arms? Wait, it seems only one side got the memo to wave their arms back and forth. LOL.

Randy: YOYOYOYO STONES YOYOYO FIRST TIME YOU ON FIRE YOYOYO

Ellen: You have an amazing voice and you lost your way and I am glad you are coming back. I love how you made the word fire two syllables.

Kara: I like the intensity you attacked the song with. Two steps in the right direction.

Simon: What I like about you is you are beginning to show us what kind of artist you want to be. I’ve been a fan of yours for the last two or three weeks. (Really Simon? Even when you were comparing her to a screeching cat you were a fan?)

Ryan’s call to vote: She still bores me. She is like a singing Playboy Playmate from the 1970’s.

Next up is Angel Jizz. Turns out Angel Jizz had some bad reaction to a vaccine when he was a baby and is…..brain damaged? WAIT. WUT. LMAO. SO. MANY. JOKES. GOING. INTO. OVERLOAD. CANNOT. HANDLE. THIS. MAYDAY. MAYDAY.

Let me compose myself. Ok den. Sadly though the angels didn’t come on his brother, because his brother lacks the flaxen Fabio perm and demi God good looks that Angel Jizz has. Poor less attractive brother. Tonight Angel Jizz is singing “It’s All Over Now” another song I am not familiar with and it’s one big honky tonking, yeehawing, boot stomping, Jack Daniels guzzling good time. Once again his guitar playing is better than his vocals. To me his voice sounds rough and the vibratto is annoying. At least it’s not putting me to sleep, but it’s not better than anything you would hear in your local country and western bar at dollar draft night.

Randy: YOYOYO GREAT CAREER KENNY WAYNE SHEPARD YOYOYO BLUESY STONESY ROCKY YOYOYOYO

Ellen: For most women their hearts are gonna start racing just looking at you. But for people like me (LESBIAN ALERT!! WEEOOOOOOH! WEEEOOOOOH!!)–blondes–I thought it was fantastic.

Kara: Tonight you were a rockstar. You showed your soul. Best performance since we met.

Simon: I think you look great and sounded well but that was like an audition performance. Be a star.(Yes Simon. Be a star. Good advice. They pay you for that shit? That’s like going to a doctor when you are sick and having him tell you “Just get better”. FAIL. Besides these people can’t do that Simon. They have limitations. Recognize.)

Ryan’s call to vote: GOOD GOD RYAN IS SHORT.

Next up is Lacey Brown our token redhead. When she was little she was adorable and her father was a pastor. Awesome! She is singing “Ruby Tuesday” with a string quartet. I hate this song, I hate the restaurant chain, and I hate this performance. It’s slow and her voice is shaky and the whole thing is made more riduculous by the hand waving still going on in the mosh pit. I can imagine what the producers said to them going a little something like this “OK MOSH PIT. THEY ALL SUCK THIS YEAR. WE KNOW IT, YOU KNOW IT. STILL, WAVE YOUR MOTHER FUCKIN ARMS LIKE THEY ARE SINGING FREEBIRD AND IT’S THE BEST SHIT YOU EVER HEARD OKAY? DO IT. OR WE WILL SICK GOKEY ON YOU.”

Oh and what’s with her outfit? Did the stylists this year decide to just give up as well? (“She’s wearing her foundation garmet outside her top.”–Kat)

Ellen: I thought it was weird when the song started to build you sat down? You like to sit on the edge of things. Don’t go to the Grand Canyon. It was sleepy for me.

Kara: It was 50/50 for me. There were issues with hitting the notes. You can do better.

Simon: You perform like an actress. Very thought through, vocals and song ok, but you need to stop over thinking.

Ryan’s call to vote: Ryan just toss her right off the stage while you’re at it.

Next up is Andrew Garcia. Latin Gokey’s Dad thought he was going to be a custodian because he collected keys when he was little. Umm, way to dream big for your son. His Mom on the other hand looks like she is about to fall asleep from the excitement. Did someone slip her a roofie? Seriously she looks like she may keel over at any minute. Tonight Andrew is singing “Gimme Shelter” a Stones song that coincidentally has a woman’s part in it. Hmmm. But this time he is forgoing the acoustic jam session to rock out with his cock out and hold that mic stand like a stah! The whole spectacle reminds me so much of Gokey that I cannot stand it. Everything from the clumsy stage moves to the vocals that are pushed way too hard screams Gokey. IS IT JUST ME?? HE EVEN SOUNDS LIKE GOKEY TO ME? IS IT JUST MEEEE? WAAAAH!! I guess the terrible backing track doesn’t help matters either. During this point I am zoning out and talking to Bushy and Kat and they remark how no one knows how to work the camera this season and that we haven’t been eye fucked even once. I AM SORRY BUT I DO NOT WANT TO BE EYE FUCKED BY ANY OF THESE PEOPLE.

Randy: YOYOYOYO PITCHY YOYOYO KEEPIN IT REAL PITCHY YOYOYO

Ellen: What do I know? I thought that was your best performance yet. (ELLEN LOOSEN YOUR TIE/SCARF. IT’S TOO TIGHT. LOOSING BLOOD TO YOUR BRAIN HON. CAN’T THINK STRAIGHT.)

Kara: I wanted to feel the meaning of the song from you. It was a song about war. There was no connection.

Simon: You are taking this too literally, do you want him to have a tank up there? To be honest I am somewhere in the middle. You gave it 100% and I genuinely hope you survive another week.

Ryan’s call to vote: I lost my mullet man for THIS? Fail.

Next up is Katy Stevens, dressed like she is off to go collect Easter eggs. All she is missing is the bonnet and white gloves. Ryan asks her about what she chose to sing and why. Of course she is singing “Wild Horses” and spouts some crap about how wild horses couldn’t drag her away from this moment or some shit. She then tells us she is familiar with their music because her Dad introduced them to her when she was younger. Like, yesterday then? Of course she is sitting on a FUCKIN STOOL like everyone else this year, lit by heavenly light from above.Seriously though they need to retire that stool. It once was used sparingly for dramatic effect but not it’s just used because these people have no idea what to do onstage. Soon though she is up and moving around and the ridiculous arm waving continues. Her voice isn’t bad but the whole thing is so schmaltzy and I still can’t see what kind of music she would make.

Randy: YOYOYO GREAT SONG IF SUNG WELL YOYOYO SOME PITCH PROBLEMS YOYOY BUT STRONG THOUGH YOYOYO

Ellen: It started a bit pitchy but got better when you got into it.

Kara: It’s never technically perfect for you but better than last week.

Simon: This is the only week where you chose a strong song. I actually recorded this with Susan Boyle (BARF) and I think this is the first time you connected with a song.

Ryan’s call to vote: SIMON I TOLD YOU NEVER TO MENTION HER NAME IN MY PRESENCE.

Next up is my mortal enemy Tim Urban.

Apparently he has a million brothers and sisters and they all shower together or something, I don’t know. He also used to get mistaken for a girl as a young kid because of his long hair. Nowadays that would never happen because no girl in their right mind would let their hair look like that. It’s Zac Efron hair on steroids. Not a good look. He is singing “Under My Thumb” reggae style. UM WUT? Good god this guy sucks. If he didn’t have his teen idol good looks he would be gone in a heartbeat. And tonight he may be the first person to stare into the camera but, like I said, I do NOT want to be eye fucked by any of these people. Especially him. What’s bad is this is a song about a guy keeping his girl down, sort of like the tables have turned kind of thing, and he is singing it as if he has no idea what the lyrics are supposed to mean. Like he just thought it would be cool as a laid back reggae jam and the only thing “under his thumb” is a joint. Noticeably the arm waving has subsided. LOL.

Randy: YOYOYOYOYO LISTEN MAN WOW I DIDN’T GET THAT MAN WOWOWOWO REGGAE WEIRD YOYOYO

Ellen: I am gonna boo myself first because I felt like I was at a resort drinking a pina colada. It was kinda laid back and there was nothing wrong with it, but you’re not wowing me.

Kara: I applaud you for doing something so different with the song. You made it your own.

Simon: I applaud you for being different, but it didn’t work. Alot of Stones fans would turn their TV’s off. Crazy decision.

Ryan’s call to vote: Tim you couldn’t even sound like William Hung if you tried. You suck. Embrace it.

Next up is Siobhan Magnus. She is wearing GIANT glasses, lol, and maybe it’s my head cold and the fact that I am hopped up on cold medicine, but I am finding her quirkiness endearing right now instead of annoying. She is singing “Paint it Black” and pulling an Adam Lambert by dramatically utilizing the staircase. She sings it slow as a lone violin plays in the background and it’s all very dramatic, her hair all curly and wearing a lacey black dress like she is going to a goth prom, and then tempo picks up and she gets up to work the stage. She has a decent voice but not one suited for rock and…..OH GOOD GOD SHE OPENS HER GIANT ASS MOUTH AND UNLEASHES THE HELL DEMONS.

She let’s out an ear piercing scream that lands somewhere in between Gokey’s “Scream On” and Adam’s “Feeling Good” scream, but veers more towards Gokey territory. Just because you can shatter glass within a 50 mile radius doesn’t mean you should, especially when you just toss one in randomly at the end of a song to try and make it seem like a better performance than it really was. I feel like she is trying to take a page out of the Adam Lambert playbook, and somehow equates screaming like a banshee with “singing well” but somehow for me her screams are more shrill than musical, and they seem to just come out of nowhere like a stray bullet. The high notes worked for Adam because they were musical and in tune and you sort of knew when they were coming lol, but for her it just seems random and like she is being murdered. Am I even making sense? Ah who cares. I take it back, I’m finding her annoying again now.

Randy: YOYOYOYO BRINGING THE DRAMA THAT WAS HOT YOYOYOYO

Ellen: I love the way you look and sound. You rise above like Snookie’s pouf.

Kara: I am having flashbacks of Adam and his stairs moment.

Simon: I think it was the standout performance of the night.

Ryab’s call to vote: SORRY WUT? I AM DEAF NOW.

Next up is Lee Dewyze. He would look so much better if he lost his chin pubes. His face needs a bikini wax. Seriously. Apparently he used to sell paint with names like “snuggelpuss”. I. AM. RIVETED. BLAH BLAH BLAH PARENTS ENCOURAGED HIM BLAH BLAH BLAH. He is singing “Beast of Burden” with his guitar(shocker)and unsurprisingly it sounds like everything else he has ever sang. He is like Daughtry but not as good and not in tune. And with more hair. I am bored.

Randy: YOYOYOY ROB THOMAS OYOYOYOYO DAVE MATTHEWS YOYOYO DOPE

Ellen: I thought it was good, but I expected more. It was like a hospital gown–almost there.

Kara: You are growing faster than anybody. Tremendous growth.

Simon: I really like you as a person, I like your story. You don’t shine or show your personality though. You chose a safe and boring song. You have an incredibly good voice(wut?) so come back next week and have a moment.

Ryan’s call to vote: Why didn’t he sing “Paint it Black”? HAR HAR HAR.

Up next is Paige “crazy eyes” Myles. Or Paige “I shouldn’t be here anymore” Myles. Her Dad is dead too. Once again, that sucks. Let me take a moment to say–in case somehow Gokey is reading this–see how many people this year have dead loved ones and are NOT pimping them to get votes? See how that works? Yeah. Take that in. Apparently Paige is sick tonight with bronchitis so….she will sound exactly the same. She is singing “Honky Tonk” woman and maybe she should be sick all the time because this is a million times better than last week. It’s kinda country though and I am not sure how this shows what kind of music she wants to do, but at least it’s in tune.

Randy: YOYOYO YOU DID ALRIGHT MAN YOYOYO MORE ENERGY YOYOYOY I LIKED IT

Ellen: I loved that you used the stage and I know you are struggling with your voice.

Kara: You got a little lost but the Paige we fell in love with is back.

Simon: You did great taking into account the laryngitis. You still yet haven’t connected. Make yourself more unique.

Ryan’s call to vote: Why does her sleeve have a belt?

Next up is Aaron Kelly. He is quick to call his mom a bad singer but, oh ho ho buddy, don’t get so cocky boy. You *did* play back some of your performances, didn’t you? Oy. He is singing “Angie” which is a weird choice for such a young kid but whatever. He also uses the steps but in a less dramatic way–more of a ‘waiting for the bus’ kind of way. His hair also has an unfortunate “Something About Mary” look. Did someone get too close to Angel Jizz before they went onstage? He also does this weird pelvis wiggle that is neither a dance move nor a sexy move, but something I have seen 6 year olds do when they have to pee. All in all this is not a good performance. His voice is wobbly and he has zero stage presence. I am still waiting for him to spontaneously burst into puberty onstage.

Randy: YOYOYOYO BORN TO SING YOYOYOYO TENDER MOMENTS JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE YOYOYO

Ellen: Are you trying to copy my hair? Next to Siobhan you really stood out.

Kara: You connected to the song–really great.

Simon: I did fear for you but you chose the right song. You sang the songs within the limits of your voice and it was in tune and believable.

Ryan’s call to vote: So what did you use in your hair? Oh REALLY? Hmmm never tried that before–intentionally of course.

Last up is Crystal Bowersox. DA PIMP SPOT. She once wrote a song called “Daddy I Love You” or something like that. AWWWW. That how us Ohioans roll. We rock dreads and love our Dad’s. We keep it real. Tonight she is singing “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”. Once again she is jammin on her guitar and I am really having guitar overload here. Her voice is soo much better than any of the other contestants and her performance skillz are far superior, but I would still like to see her come out from hiding behind that damn guitar and work the stage. And even though it’s by far the best performance of the night I would not actively seek out her music. Just gotta keep it real. She is just not my vibe man. But out of everyone? She totally deserves to win.

Randy: YOYOYOYO NOT BEST BUT YOYOYOYO I LOVE YOU YOYOYOYO NO DISSAPOINTMENT YOYOYOYO

Ellen: You sing with such ease and you are born to be onstage, but what I am missing is personality. Stop thinking. Have fun onstage.

Kara: You kinda loosened up a bit more.

Simon: You came out 100% the clear favorite and you didn’t chose the right song. This is the first time I think Siobhan beat you.

Ryan’s call to vote: Lilly and Crystal. Cryilly. I ship it.

So that ends the first big show and once again I am underwhelmed. Yes a few didn’t suck as much as they previously have, but overall it was a bust. I am not surprised. I think one big problem with this bunch is that it’s a bunch of “stand there and don’t move an inch” Idols. Last year we had Adam flipping his shit and skipping to Allison rocking out and Lil doing faux Tina Turner and Gokey douching it up to PYT. God even SCOTT seemed to move more onstage( even if it was just because Anoop was his seeing eye man)!!

So this year seems more like a jam in a coffee shop with guitars and stools and overpriced latte’s and less of an AMERICAN IDOL EXTRAVAGANZA!!! Which is such a bore. Because this show was never meant for intimate singer songwriters. It was made for bombastic, razzle dazzle, look at me hit these amazing high notes kind of singers…..and we just don’t have that this year.

EDIT: YES I KNOW A “SINGER/SONGWRITER” WON LAST YEAR, AND TECHNICALLY THAT’S WHAT HE IS. BUT HE ALWAYS HAD SUCH A STRONG PERFROMANCE ELEMENT TO HIM THAT IT DIDN’T FEEL LIKE YOU WERE IN THE COFFEE SHOP YA KNOW? THAT’S WHAT IS MISSING THIS YEAR–STRONG AND ENGAGING PERFORMANCES.

Well, we have Siobhan. But the less said about her “high notes” the better.

Next week Idols…..GET OFF THE FUCKIN STOOL AND PUT DOWN YOUR GUITARS AND ENTERTAIN US. EVEN IF YOU LOOK STUPID. WHICH THERE IS A HIGH PROBABILITY YOU WILL. STILL THOUGH…AT LEAST TRY. JAZZ HANDS. BOX STEPS. THE RUNNING MAN. THE WHITE MAN’S OVERBITE. I DON’T FREAKIN CARE. JUST FUCKIN MOVE YOUR LAZY ASSES!!
