Michael Jackson’s estate has filed a legal opposition against Joe, after the music clan’s apparently cash-strapped patriarch sought $15,000 per month from his late son’s holdings.

Estate administrators John Branca and John McClain are seeking to block the payout, arguing that the sum will take away from money earmarked for Jackson’s children, who along with Jackson’s mother, Katherine, receive $86,000 a month from the estate, and, furthermore, that Jackson himself never intended or desired to bankroll his father’s lifestyle.

Michael left Joe out of his will and trust and the surviving father figure has so far been unable to prove that his son ever supported him prior to his death. A hearing on the matter has been set for Jan. 28.
