We all know who is first place:
but you know who managed to sneak into second? The scourge of my opera buff life, Andrea Bocelli.
As someone who lived in Italy for years and can sing the entire score of “Tosca” from memory, Bocelli makes my ears bleed. No really, I’ve actually gotten an ear infection from his version of “Werther”. You know who sings better than Bocelli and is *just* as blind?
Beyond all that, congrats to Adam for a great first week. Hopefully he can keep it up. He did, after all, beat Gaga (well kinda LOL) and Rihanna, so that is something to be thankful for. My own personal *feelings* about the top 2 just made me a little:

you know they were selling SuBo on QVC-ugh, that counts for like 100,000 right there esp. with their viewers mostly being over the age of 60 lol. And Bocelli, give me a good chocolate cake anyday over that
I predict that SuBo won’t be around when HH (or any other Idol) puts out their next CD.

When I bought Adams album last Monday, all the new releases were 9.98 at Target. Sat. when I looked to see hoe Adam was doing, his album was at 13.98 bit Lady Gagas was still 9.98? I took that to mean that Adams album was selling better therefore put it back to 13.98. Anyone know if this is how it works??
I don’t think he is a new release, so far as new releases for 11/23/09 HH would be #2.

OIC! QVC explains SueBo’s high numbers! I saw lots of her CD’s on the shelves and no one buying them this past week when out shopping!
And Bocelli came out of nowhere!
Good for HH to come out on top of all the pop/rock stars this past week!
Gaga would’ve won if she didn’t put out multiple album choices. That Bad Romance song is super catchy and has a strong hook. I’m sad that HH and RedOne didn’t finish their songs!
Those are HDD numbers (which are not 100% of sales, right?) which are not the final Billboard numbers, right? So the final Billboard should be higher! The extra day is probably taking Bbd so long to calculate!
These HitsDailyDouble numbers aren’t always entirely accurate. But Andrea’s margin does seem to be big enough that it should stick.
Oh, well. It could be far worse than number 3.
I’m so old(LOL), I remember when Debbie Boone’s “You Light Up My Life” was the biggest selling song in the history of ever. Played constantly on every fricking radio station. Could not get away from it anywhere. That was a tragic time in music history. Yet somehow, someway, good music continued to be made despite the lack of popular recognition. Just keep in mind, as horrific as the sales results may seem, this too shall pass. WE WILL SURVIVE THIS!
Donni, I am almost positive that Target was selling it for $9.99 or 9.98 as well, for the first week. The sticker will say the original price, but it will scan the discount price.

When I bought it last Monday, Adam’s was $9.98 at Best Buy and $13.98 at Target.
I just bought HH’s and Magenta’s CD’s for a gift, at FYE (the store, not the album) and both were $9.95.
I’m so happy for Adam! He topped all the pop/rock artist (whose fan base is not just 60+ people)
This is good news for Adam. He did great in his category and this is what counts. I also liked him with Ellen DeG. this afternoon: great voice, great interpretation, beautiful song and nice composure. He’s a really talented young man. I didn’t want to mention gorgeous looks because I didn’t want to somehow take away from his artistic qualities; but OMG! he was stunning!
I’m a little confused tbh. Estimates were putting him at 200,000-210,000, then went up to 225,000? I gathered from that, that he must have sold more than 210,000 to warrant them changing the estimate to a higher figure – why else change it? Is this HDD total sales for cd and download combined?

I’m almost like Who Cares. Totally different markets. More old people bought Christmas presents for each other this week than young people legally downloaded FYE. So what.
JC, so right. I actually had no clue who Andrea Bocelli was until last week or so, so I guess that says something to all of you.
And Susan Boyle? She’s famous because she’s a working-class woman who looked average and sucked her thumb, while she also happens to sing decently.
Meanwhile, Susan and Andrea are in the lead of this guy who has a voice like. . . shit, don’t even KNOW what it’s like, not enough words – and has the most amazing glittery ideas and plans, while they are nowhere near as creative. A little sad.

Don’t compare Adam’s audience (new fresh, cool, sexy, oh so SEXY, rock/pop, out of the box sound) with Old Lady Su Bo or Bocelli (old things are for old people and should stay there).
