This is…this just makes me so sad. Like upset sad, because really? I mean they’re partically blackballing him now. It’s insane. It’s not even just about Adam anymore, I’m upset because this is such a show of discrimination. It was ONE performance, and ABC (or whoever is holding their balls in a vice-grip)can’t forgive. This is simply…insane.
Do they want an apology? Is THAT it? And what, if he won’t give them one they’ll never give him another chance? But Chris Brown, HE gets a chance to ‘REDEAM’ himself. I’m sorry, really, but what the f*ck!? I know it’s spiteful, but I hope ABC gets a LOT of flack for this from the press. They deserve it. Blantly refusing and constantly cancelling a performing (especially one as humble and professional as Adam) will give them a bad (read homophobic/intolorant) image. I REALLY REALLY hope someone calls them out on this.

Chill, folks, it ain’t that deep. Adam did this himself. HH lost it on the stage. It is against FCC regulations, ABC is being sued, and he says in interviews that he did those things ‘in the moment’. If instead he would say ‘it won’t happen again’, I think he would have done okay. At first in interviews he was saying he was not nervous, then on Ellen he admitted he was. I think it was too big too soon for him, and he truly did feel competitive, as he says, and wanted to be the best of the best, since he was the closing act. Then he reverted to what he knows best, like the Zodiac Show stuff, which is underground LA stuff, not TV stuff. Maybe if the plan had been for him to just stand there and sing, with some great lighting and some back up dancers, it would have been awesome. I was afraid at the time that he blew it. We will never know what might have been if he hadn’t done that–what his record sales might have been. We will never know if he will fully recover form this. He lost some potential fans, people who had never even heard of him before, that night.

This stinks for Adam, but why are people more upset about this than the fact that the NY Senate today rejcted a bill that would have legalized gay marriage?
Adam will be fine. This is a momentary blip in his career and he is already getting gigs to replace the ones ABC has cancelled. I don’t like what ABC is doing, but I prefer to rage about things like what the NY Senate is doing — that is something that affects way more people and for a much longer time than the ABC/Adam crap.

Is ABC really getting sued? I want confirmation of that before I believe it. Although people do seem to sue at the drop of a hat down there.

IDK. I really wouldn’t consider Adam’s performance obscene. Their 3 part “test” for something to be considered obscene is apparently designed to catch hardcore pornography according to their website. I suppose someone could and call it indecent using the FCC definitions. I personally would call it risque. But obscene is a bit far. Even if it wasn’t his best performance, it should at the very least fall under the “obscenity” loophole of having artistic value.
Srsly though, if Adam’s performance is being lumped in with pornography, I really don’t know what this world is coming to. I’m more offended by Jerry Springer and Maury Povich when someone at work forces me to watch them. Do these people think we have no independent thought?

The Liberty Law Dean filed a complaint with the FCC. I’m not sure that’s the same as ABC getting sued. Someone with more knowledge might know better. I’m reading that as a complaint has been filed and the FCC can investigate, but I’m not sure ABC is “getting sued” so to speak:
