LAMBERT MAKES DA LIST OF COURSE.
American Idol: Adam Lambert’s “Ring Of Fire”
Let’s be clear from the start: Adam Lambert’s rendition of Johnny Cash’s “Ring Of Fire” isn’t necessarily good—you might even call it a screechy defiling of Cash’s spare, evocative classic—but it was riveting television. With his black fingernail polish and guyliner, and a sensibility geared more toward Broadway and pop provocation than understated country twang, Lambert was never going to kill on “Grand Ole Opry Week,” but he could have easily survived by going conservative and leaning on his generous vocal range. Instead, he used the opportunity to do a sitar-tinged “Middle Eastern” version of “Ring Of Fire” that scared the hell out of guest mentor Randy Travis even before Lambert took the stage in a leather jacket and fingerless gloves, and started working that microphone stand. By answering Cash’s famous baritone with a wavering falsetto, Lambert gave one of the strangest, most discomfiting performances in American Idol history, and offered a preview of the bold, dude-smooching agitator to come.
WELL ONE MAN’S SCREECHING IS ANOTHER MAN’S KILLING IT ON HIGH NOTES ONLY MARIAH CAREY CAN DREAM OF. AND ONE MAN’S DEFILING IS ANOTHER MAN’S…..FILING?? UMMM……HAHA. POINT IS…..IT WAS AWESOME. SO SUCK IT. MOVING ON….

THEN THE NY POST POPWRAP NAMES LAMBERT #6 ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR.
No 6. Adam Lambert
It’s crazy to think that in 2008, the name Adam Lambert didn’t mean anything. Now when his name is bandied about, a million images, sounds and high notes cycle through your mind. From his amazing reworkings of iconic songs (“Mad World,” “If I Can’t Have You”) on “American Idol” to his shocking AMA performance, the man has been on the tip of everyone’s tongue for 365 days. But Adam’s biggest accomplishment has been his questionably covered, but undoubtedly brilliant debut CD, “For Your Entertainment” and the gay old time he’s had promoting it.

Billboard released Top 20 Music Moments of 2008. Adam and Kris made it to #4 (we beat SuBo!!!!!!). They say even though Kris won the competition, everyone’s got their eyes on Adam
He’s definitely the “It” boy of the moment; everyone has him on their Top XX lists!
I freakin’ LOVED Ring of Fire. Prolly my favorite performance of HH’s. Even my 6 year-old niece, whenever she comes to visit, wants me to play ROF over and over again!

The list of Top 10 Lists that Adam *doesn’t* appear on is much easier to keep track of. He’s everywhere!
Adam’s Ring of Fire was BRILLIANT. Paula and Randy got it. Simon was an idiot, he didn’t even make sense. Adam took that song and made it his own. I downloaded his idol performance and the studio version and both are out of this world. I guess its all a matter of taste.
Took me awhile to get used to that – as with many things he does, but eventually I came to love it. Love it or hate it though, you gotta respect the cajones it took to do that (and we all know they’re huge!! LOL)
ROF kept me riveted then and still does now. I had heard that rendition before but did not know who it was that sang it. When he started in with his rendition, I raced to the TV, turned up the volume and stood mesmerized. How fucking brilliant. I thought his vocals were great — pitch perfect as his voice slid up and down his vocal range. He IS here for our entertainment and, if I ever get an opportunity to thank him, I will, profusely!
Well, now I have this image of Adam on the tip of my tongue. And I can’t get rid of it. And I don’t want to.
I found Adam interesting throughout the audition process.
I really liked him after B or W.
I was in the HH fanclub after R of F. I LOVED that performance. I loved the arrangement and the vocals, and loved that he had the guts to try something like that on “safe and tame” American Idol. I always wanted to see what he would do next after that performance. ROF is the song I play most out of all the AI downloads and I still think it rocks!
it’s not easy to undestand HH’s performances/album covers whatever when you first see them, because he’s introducing you to a completely different way of thinking.Once you get your head around it, you won’t change a thing, as his work becomes iconic.
Think back to ROF, album cover, RollingStone cover , even AMA. A really interesting man
ROF!! That is all.
