Dudes, Kris Allen is not fucking conservative

Author: Ok, besides that little aside in the title, this is cool recognition for our boys. AfterElton.com named their Visibility awards and Kradam made the list (Adam solo too, of course)
Adam also got Musician of the Year, as well as runner up for Person of the Year

I believe Kris has even called himself liberal. And my gosh Obama played in his studio with him LOL!
WUT ??? ROCK HUDSON ??? COMPARED TO ADAM? He was heavily closetted all of his life until he was dying of Aids and the truth became obvious. But he denied being gay until the day he died. After he died, of course all his boyfriends came out of the woodwork, to tell their stories, and he was highly villified because he continued to have sex with these guys even when he knew he had Aids. His story bears none of the courage and honesty of Adam Lambert. Maybe Sir Elton John, to a certain degree, may have ben a better choice?
There are different types of conservatives. Only a certain segment are homophobic.
When it comes to Kris, we do not know what he and his family say about gays behind closed doors.
Definitely nice recognition for HH and HP. I’m surprised though, that they consider HH to be “at the very peak of his career”. Really? They don’t think he will be any more successful than he is now? I kind of thought his career was just beginning and that he has the potential for greater achievement. But maybe that’s just me. Nice to see some media appreciation coming his way though.
We have to give kudos to Adam for having the courage to live his life as honestly as he has. This is not an easy thing to do especially in this country filled with homophobes. Adam has always been an entertainer and has known he would be performing for the public since he was a young child. He has already made some tough decisions in his life. We also have to give props to Kris for loving a gay man like he loves Adam. (We still are not sure how that is going to turn out.) Kris knows how religious people feel about gays. Half the country still doesn’t see the light. Until the baby boomers are dead, I don’t think this country will change. The change will come through the young people like Kris and Adam.
I love that people are acknowledging Adam for his accomplishments. Adam is love. Always love. He never seems to deviate from this mantra, and I think he truly believes love will conquer all. And we believe Adam will conquer all.

Adam is HARDLY at the peak of his career, Rock Hudson was the WORST kind of example of how to live your life as a gay person, and don’t tell me that the baby boomers all have to die off (I’m one) before we have equality for everyone, especially when you have assholes like eminem spewing their homophobic crap. So much ignorance in this post, I am going to have to have some more eggnog and chill out. Welcome to cranky Monday.

I didn’t mean all baby boomers, just the 90% who are homophobes and make up the majority of the voting public. Who do you think keeps the country from passing equality marriage act or getting rid of the “don’t ask, don’t tell” in the military? If I sounded so ignorant to you, you tell me who is stopping this homophobic country from coming out of the closet. Maybe you are smarter than I am. Meanwhile, keep drinking your eggnog. …FURTHERMORE…there IS such a thing as the Christian Left. It’s hard to know they exist because they are so silent compared to the in-your-face Christian Right, but they don’t see tolerance for homosexuality as being at odds with Christianity at all. I suspect the Allens might be more at home on this end of the spectrum since they are such tolerant and broadminded people. OK…mainlining eggnog now…
Kris himself has described himself as anything BUT conservative. And, PL — seriously? Kris and his family likely don’t speak any differently about gays behind closed doors than they do in public. It’s clear the entire family loves Adam…
Sorry Irish, I just flinched a bit cause it sounded like you were holding all the baby boomers responsible, when homophobia exists within all generations. We ALL have to educate our peers about equality and tolerance, regardless of age or religious views. I agree with you that there is no excuse that we haven’t passed marriage equality or gotten rid of “don’t ask, don’t tell” and shame on the baby boomers for not moving forward with this. It was that Rock Hudson thing that really set me off and I didn’t mean to also get you in my crosshairs, please accept my apology for barking at you, and here, have some eggnog with me…
I can only draw on people and ideas I have experienced in my life. Until Adam appeared in my life, I never took an interest in gay rights or even realized how unequal it all was for all gays, bi, transgenders, etc. We all live in our little bubbles for most of our lives and until something hits us in the face, we don’t become involved. Too busy raising kids, working, taking care of parents, siblings, grandchildren, and then we all die. To actually become an activist and try to make a difference takes incredible courage, intellect, energy, and true belief in your ideals. When I broach the subject of gay rights with my peers, they roll their eyes at me and look at me like I am crazy. When I talk to my teenage granddaughter, she fills me in on how her generation is dealing with gays, bi, transgenders, etc. and I find she has more knowledge and passion than I do on the subject. I just think the next generation will be much more tolerant and knowledgable than the generation I am in. That was my only point in pointing a finger at the baby boomers.

And eggnog is too fattning for me. I would like a glass of wine however. Do you know how hard it is at my age to not weigh 200 lbs. Oops. Sorry. That is a subject for another day.
irish, I am probably close to your age, maybe older. I was born in the early years of the baby boomers. Anyway, I totally get you and I agree with your comments. change is slow to come, so it is people like you and me that have to speak up! I love Adam and Kris for who they are. I wish the homophobes would just wake up and get their heads out of the sand and take a close look at Kris and Adam’s friendship. unfotunately, I doubt things will change in mine and your lifetime. Sad isn’t.

Irish, I have to say that you’ve got it wrong about the baby boomers, at least a whole lot of them…I live in kansas, am older than 50, was a hippie chick, am NOT conservative OR religious, and not a homophobe or any other kind of hater. I think the haters come in all sizes, shapes, genders, ages, a lot, but not all from the southern and midwest states, but then look at California and New York, LIBERAL states, voting for the marriage ban. It is not good to generalize, in fact it’s impossible and it isn’t the truth.
Congrats to both Adam and Kris for the acknowledgement. They’re BOTH beautiful souls…and WE are blessed by their presence.
I guess I am not ready to give up on my generation yet. I still think we have it in us to change and move forward… we have actually accomplished quite a bit, with so much more to do, gay rights being one of the next frontiers.
Speaking out and agitating for change IS so much more productive than just dying off, don’t you agree? And I agree with glitterati ..Really MUST get to work now…

The Allen family is the definitive, conservative deep south Christian family. Kris included. THEY HAVE JUST FALLEN IN LOVE WITH ADAM, as apparently most people who meet him do. Consider for a moment if they had met a “fem” gay man like little twink Cheeks……….do you think Cheeks would be accepted in the same way as Adam has in midstream America. I certainly think not, so another example of how Adam, because of who he is, his intelligence, class and demeanor , can really make a difference in breaking down some of these homophobic barriers. But there is a LOOOOOOONG way to go. Definietly not all Baby Boomers, either.

Elizabeth, are they conservative? I know they attend church and are practicing Christians, but in what way do you think the Allen family — including Kris — are conservative?
I am politically to the right of most people here, but do not consider myself to be a homophobe in any way. I think “conservatives” are often painted as evil while “liberals” are considered correct. The truth lies in the middle as does most of this country. Some of the most homophobic comments I have heard toward Adam have been by liberal gay people. They were just as wrong as the religious right protesters. People are people there are good people who are conservative and liberal. That is a lesson I think Adam began to learn during tour this summer. He was constantly surprised how loved and excepted he was in some of the more conservative parts of the country. Kris is a good person (as is Adam) regardless of his political affiliation. Off my soapbox – Love you All

Delerking for just a moment. Just started visiting this blog a couple of weeks ago. Too funny for words. I’m a gonna let you finish and I hate to burst your bubble …. I’m almost one generation short of being a baby boomer, and I have had far to much to do with teenagers. BUT unfortunately homophobia is alive and well. I know what their peers (and their parents) are STILL putting some kids through. This unfortunately is not generational, it’s cultural. Although I need to believe – and actually I do – culture can and is changing. Adam Lambert despite all the flack he’s currently taking is part of that change.
