Red Guitar-Gate Continues

Here’s an interview with USA Today and HP. Interestingly, we’re back to the Red Guitar song as metaphor for wife vs. the “it’s about a guitar.” OIC. I don’t know when this interview took place but I’ve never seen a song with so many flip flopping meanings! from here:
To that end, the album contains a song Allen wrote before his Idol journey ever started. It’s called Red Guitar, but it’s really not about a guitar at all.
“I bought my wife a $50 red guitar for her birthday, and she never played it,” Allen says. “We ended up hanging it on the wall because it was a good decoration. One day, I grabbed it off the wall, tuned it up and started writing a song. It ended up being a metaphor for the way I feel about her.”

Don’t forget: Red Guitar = Peen
=
(PixieVirgo did you fletcher that? :) )
Wait, let’s see if I understand, is the guitar a metafor for his wife or is it the way the girl in the song plays the guitar? Very confusing.
Actually it’s a love song about the sweet tunes that gets out of the red guitar when she plays..nothing about how the red guitar was scorned and hanged on the wall..which I though it will be all about..it looks like he really loves her!!
except for the fact that kris has said she never played it and it got hung on a wall! so it’s like his fantasy of the “sweet tunes” that would come out IF she ever played it? Something’s not adding up LOL!
well dont forget that whatever the guitar is “its been through hell” and that “she doesn’t have a clue”
yeah, definitely some mixed messages and metaphors in there. it’s actually one of my favorite songs on the album (the instrumentation is awesome!), but the lyrics are a little…confusing haha…especially if you pair it with his interviews.
cuz it kind of switches back and forth between talking about the actual guitar and then about katy playing it. but then in interviews, he says katy never plays it. i’m giving him the benefit of the doubt that when he says ‘never’ he really means like ‘once a year’ or something. there is a lyric in the song that refers to that.
Yep, red guitar = peen
Either a $50 guitar wasn’t good enough for her
or
His peen was just there as ‘decoration’ — “hanging” out there in the open, collecting dust, only play it got was when he played it himself.
Poor guy.
I imagine writing a song is like painting or writing – you start off with an idea and it takes on a life of its own. He told Slezak it’s a metaphor and it will mean different things to different people. He’s an artist and he’s creating something. It doesn’t have to be literal. The bottom line, it seems to me, is that he loves his wife even if she doesn’t play the damn thing.
Oh yeah, the response he made that it was about a guitar, that cracked me up. I bet he gets sick of answering the same questions over and over. He probably just had a moment. I thought it was hilarious. “Red Guitar? what’s that about?” “It’s about a guitar [you dumb bitch].”
