DREAM COMES TRUE: Susan Boyle’s Columbia album, I Dreamed a Dream, which hit the streets today, is already selling two to three times the estimated pre-release total for retailers, on top of breaking the all-time pre-order record at Amazon.com. Based on current tallies, the disc will easily top 500k and could go even higher. (11/23p)

So 2 things are happening here. First, the people that would buy this album don’t know how to illegally download. Trufax. Second, people are buying this shit for their mother/grandmother because they think that’s what they want. 
was watching her on the Today show this morning completely flabbergasted by these people fawning over this entirely mediocre singer who is famous for being homely. BTW, this has absolutely nothing to do with Adam. This is complete raaaage coming from deep down in my heart as someone who trained as a classical singer from the age of 15. I have *feelings* about this woman, okay?

500k is pretty optimistic, I think. Regardless, HH is gonna still sell a ton — and no one will fault him for coming second to Susan, even if she is a crappy singer. Her story overshadows everything.
The early numbers for HP’s album are less assuring. :(
I’m with you with the rage! When I saw her on DWTS 2 weeks ago, I couldn’t believe how mediocre she was. You are right that “older” people are probably buying this album. That’s why her sales are so high because this is the age group that doesn’t share music for free.
However, I am a mom and a grandma (a young one) and am deeply offended by being lumped into the Susan Boyle fan club!

People throughout the ages have enjoyed the sound of a beautiful voice. They still do, and Susan Boyle gives them exactly what they want. Her clear voice does all the selling, she does not need gimmicks, she has no need to simulate sex acts on stage to get some press. Adam could have outsold her easily – had he continued to showcase what made people fall in love with him during AI, namely his incredible voice, unfortunately, he is not even recognizable on his album. Adam being gay did not mean a thing to me, until his embarrassing, tasteless, and vulgar AMA performance, where he showed America that homosexuals apparently are perverts who find his disgusting behavior quite normal. EEKKKK!!! And to make matters worse, he cannot even SING any longer.
Yes, I canceled my pre-order and purchased Susan Boyle and Amaury Vassili instead. If listening to pure, beautiful voices makes me old, so be it.
I know this is a pro Adam site, and that you find my honest expression of my feelings offensive, so please feel free to erase my comment, I most certainly would not hold it against you.
Don’t forget she has one album in the top ten, last I checked Adam had two and Gaga had two. Added together I’d say each of their sales are equal or better than hers.
@dadan. I am pretty new here and what I have found is that people can state an opinion about something, good or bad, as long as they do it “nicely”. I’m not sure I categorize your generalization that all homosexuals are perverts as “nice”, not to mention, inaccurate. What you witnessed at the AMAs was an act. Adam and the dancers on stage were acting out the lyrics to a song. A racey song. Nothing more. I did not find the performance offensive in the least. Quite frankly, I thought the kiss was pretty hot. I am neither a homosexual nor a pervert.
Secondly, it doesn’t appear that you have read any interviews or heard anything Adam has said about his vision for his music. If you had, you would have known his album was not going to be a bunch of show tune covers. There is not one song on Adam’s album that I could not distinguish as distinctly Adam and several ballads that clearly showcase his beautiful voice.
Finally, I’m not sure why you say he can’t sing anymore, I’m sure he can…I hope he can, because I’m heading down to the city to watch him sing at GMA tomorrow.
