O….M….G….
Two of my favorite people on the same stage – it’s a dream come true.
I LOVE THEM. AND I AM IN ORLANDO.
fye was on 95.5 wplj this morn. the other big nyc station. i they introed by making fun of the album cover…went to commercial…played fye…and then were almost speechless. they loved it.
Is anyone else having the dilemma I’m having?? I’m in NJ, I don’t listen to Top 40 radio. I’m an alternative/rock chick (even old school punk rock, thrash and heavy metal. I’m open to a lot of music). I can go from the Bad Brains to The Cranberries and be happy! But I cringe when I hear some of the stations like WPLJ or Z100. I hate their repetitive playlists and obnoxious djs with echoey sounds. But now that they’re the ones playing FYE, I did listen to WPLJ on and off all weekend just to hear the song. And I felt nauseous at times. I’m so sad that Adam is being lumped into that category. I mean, I get it. It’s where the money is. I’ve had many fave radio stations over the years change format overnight just to appeal to the masses. But I just don’t see him there. He’s different. How can they go from Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus to Adam fucking Lambert?!?!
I realize this song is geared toward the Top 40 sound. And I like dancing and dance music. Trust me, when I was in high school I was a regular at Danceteria in NYC. And I didn’t flail the first time I heard FYE. (Did I just say that out loud?!) PLEASE don’t crucify me. The synth sound all throughout was distracting for me at first, and it didn’t sound like him in the beginning. Now that I’ve heard it several times, I love it!! It sounds 100% better on the radio than my computer. Maybe part of it too is the excitement of hearing him announced before it starts.
The stations I listen to do not play any of the Idol’s music, from past or present. And I’m so torn. While I really want to hear Adam and what people are saying about his music on the radio, I still want to hear Soundgarden, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Faith No More, Foo Fighters, The Cure, Alice In Chains, Muse, Smashing Pumpkins, Godsmack, Nine Inch Nails,…you get it!
I fell in love with him because he’s so different. He has that edge and spark, and he’s set aside from the rest. No matter what happens, or where he goes, I’m here for the long haul with him! If I have to switch to Top 40 radio, then dammit I’ll take my big girl pill and deal with it.
I hate that I rambled just now. But it’s been bothering me. Maybe I’m alone with these feelings. But I’ve always been the one to think differently, and I’m kind of used to being the oddball out.
Love to all,
Melissa/Mel
If it makes you feel better Mel….I don’t listen to the radio at all! LOL
Whew! Did I really write all that?! Crap. Can I blame it on being drunk? Feel free to delete it. (running from computer now)
Apparently, Orlando hasn’t heard yet that Kris is coming here. I am looking for tickets and ticketmaster doesn’t even have it on its calendar. House of Blues doesn’t either. I can’t believe how fast Gossip Candy gets its information. It is always before anyone else. Tickets are suppose to go on sale on the 6th according to the ad.
Mel, you are not alone and I totally understand you. I am actually a Classic Rock person. My fave radio station is Sirius XM 70’s on 7. I also like Metal ever since my son was a teenager and really got into Metal (metallica, ac/dc etc…) However, I do listen to the Top 40 stations too, because I want to stay current. So I am sure I will hear Adam’s and Kris’ Music on the radio. There is room in my life for all types of music, so I try not to focus on just one style.
Mel,
I am hopeful that Adam will have a song or two on the CD that will be played on rock stations.
Seascape – sorry but I don’t think so.
They all sound just the same, very much like Gaga kind of thing.
I understand, I was expecting something more creative from him.
i stopped listening to the radio YEARS ago…
after WDRE went off the air. ANYONE?
anyway…it was a kickass alternative/grungey/college music station…and that was like 15 years ago.
and since then…no radio…not even in the car.
until the boys’ music started surfacing.
radio blows…no doubt…but what else am i to do?
since MTV doesn’t like music anymore.
[[[runs to hide]]]
pandora.com is cool…
106.7? YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YESSS!!! my local radio station! :D
they used to be 92.7 WDRE when i was in high school…
SO DARK AND TRAGIC!
92.7 is something else now here in NYC…but the format changes like every week.
the boys being accepted on these mainstream stations is not a bad thing.
i was a little scared about HH’s reception when they started in on the album cover…but they showed the love…and that is not a bad thing.
[[[and i HATE top 40...js...]]]
Mel… i hear ya. The first time i listened to fye..i was kinda like HUH, WHAT?? It was dangerously close to an over produced sound that i was hoping wouldn’t surface after seeing the album cover. It took about three listenes and then i fell in love with it and can’t stop listening to it. It was even playing in the background of my dreams last night. Did someone put crack in that song…because it’s just addicting. It’s a great out of the box debut single because it’s so radio friendly. I hear what you say about looking forard to a more alt sound. Me too. The idol machoine is just too big for that. I think this will be HUGE in the UK. It remindes me of so much UK top 40 from the past. The better his album does sales wise the more freedom he has for future projects of all kinds. The commercials on radio are just too annoying to listen to but i will support HH’s airplay because i want him to succeed on a huge level so we can continue to be entertained. Looking forward to the album so very much as i know it will have so many differnt sounds to fall in love with.
Why the fk am i so chatty this morning.
it’s that crack, candygirl…
it’s whack.
Your right, the whip crack is whack!

I can’t take it!
Woo Hoo! I love Jason and Kris! That should be a great concert! I’m so happy for both of them!
I cannot wait to hear HH’s songs on the radio!
So funny that my sister loves Castro and I love HP. So let’s just say that we’re crashing at Mandy’s!
Mel, I hear ya’ and I’m right there with you, swallowing that big pill myself tonight. Found myself flipping back and forth from a Hot AC and Top 40 station. I usually have my dial set to an alternative station, or a fav CD. I picked up my kid tonight, and he gave me the oddest look, then busted out laughing and said “your waiting for Adam’s song”! I played FYE for him yesterday from the computer to hear what he thought. His friends like to listen to alot more Pop
than him, so he thought it would do well, and not so dancey as alot of stuff out there. I took this as a vote for “kinda cool”.
Kradamdelurker, had the same thing happen only it was my husband who said, “I can’t believe you’re listening to this station just to hear your boy.” (BTW, I love it when he calls HH my boy!) And I’m glad I’m not alone!
Has anyone felt a similarity of something old in the last verse:
“Oh, I bet you thought that I was soft and sweet” …When he sings “bet ya thought”, does anyone think it resembles something from the 80s?? Can’t put my finger on it. First I thought Loverboy, LOL, but now I’m thinking Foreigner!! It’s definitely a throwback to something. But I really can’t wait for more. I’m itching for Strut, with the Depeche Mode sound. Could go for another Personal Jesus stomp.
Mel – I’m with you! First Wave and AltNation on Sirius all the way. But I too have been listening to Hits 1 (the top 40 station) to stay current and maybe hear HH or HP (not yet, though I am regularly requesting HH). I don’t mind Top 40 when they play stuff like BoysLoveGirls and All American Rejects, but I turn the channel if anything rap or R&B comes on. AltRock radio will never play Adam. I don’t care how good it is. The Idol taint will never die.
