Author: ABC has booked Rihanna-beater Chris Brown for an interview and a performance on “Good Morning America” — right after the network canceled guy-kisser Adam Lambert.
Brown will do a taped tell-all with Robin Roberts, followed by a performance of songs from his new album. But TV insiders say the appearance, slated to air the week after next, has outraged feminists and gay activists who wonder why a convicted girlfriend abuser is more palatable to the network than an openly gay man who broke no laws with his raunchy performance on the “American Music Awards.”
An ABC source said, “The network is giving a mixed message — that it doesn’t trust someone who shocked with an unpredictable show and a gay kiss, but then it is happy to go ahead with Chris Brown, who was convicted of felony assault.”
ABC News has insisted that Lambert’s sexual orientation did not play a role in its decision to pull the plug on his “GMA” appearance this week.

this is unrelated but waiting for my sister to pick me up so I decided to vote on Peoples Choice Awards and they took Adams picture down his name is still over the box but no picture does this mean he is no longer a candidate??? Does anyone know about this????

I mean, Chris Brown is a-OK, right? It’s not like he’ll beat up on his girl on live telly in front of the CHILDREN(!!!). That’s all that matters, folks.

this whole thing is a ridiculous farce. and it proves Adam’s points exactly: that there is a double standard because he’s a gay man, and that in this country violence is perfectly acceptable but sexuality is not. (especially from a gay guy, of course.)
ABC has not come out of AMAgate with glowing accolades.It has repercussions for them which will ripple on, and on and on.

I’d say Chris Brown’s unpredictability in his ability to control his temper is much more frightening.

I didn’t mind the kiss Adam planted on the unsuspecting straigt band member, it was the ott visual of him putting the dancer’s face in his crotch as he gyrated and his placing his finger in the crotch of the girl dancer. And how about shooting the bird at the audience and camera with the angry face. That is why GMA was afraid to put in on live television in the morning. They obviously felt they could not trust what he might do. From what I have read ABC is very liberal with gay themes on their soap operas, so they were not being homophobic. Adam rehearsed his AMA performance without the ott moves and then on live tv did those outrageous actions. I use to be a fan, but not so much anymore. I think he will do anything for attention. He would not have made it into the final 10 on AI acting like that. So he played us all. He said one time in an interview that he could be a selfish prick with his friends and I think I now know what he is about. It is all Adam. He just may lose a career if he continues on this route. I am just hoping he has not started using cocaine again like he said he did for most of 2006. That would be too sad for words. But, I tell you he sounded and looked bad during that AMA performance and it did make me wonder.

Linda, where did he say he used cocaine for a year? GTFO with comments like that. We do not know him, we do not own him, we do not put things in his mouth and thoughts in his head – that is unless we do it for fun – and your post is anything but.
Go and watch Realte interview with Sleazak where he explains the performance and chill. HH knows how to shock and entertain but he also knows how to own up to his mistakes. His fans demand perfection on stage, interviews, and strangely enough also in snippets of his private life that leak on the internet. He has set the bar really high for himself as a performer and too often we tend to forget that it’s still a learning process for him. He’s not perfect, and part of me hopes he’ll never be because that’s what makes him human.

This…I don’t even know what to say about this. It’s like they don’t know the difference between real and playacting. I know the difference, both intellectually and experientially, between real violence and a performance involving playacting. I would hope that most people could figure it out. It appears ABC can’t. For their edification: all of the things on stage at the AMA’s were playacting. However, Chris Brown really did break the law, and physically attack another person causing bodily harm. I know which one I would choose to hear about or experience again. Really. WTF. It can’t be that hard to figure out. Can it?
I wish Adam could just enjoy being excited about his album coming out rather that having to deal with all of this. Although, given that he does have to deal with it, he’s doing it with his usual grace and aplomb. Loved Mombert’s hair on the Early show too.

I actually find it funny when people say “Adam just wants attention” or “he is trying too hard” etc., etc. Um, as an entertainer, OF COURSE HE WANTS ATTENTION, THAT’S HIS JOB! If an entertainer didn’t try hard to get attention, they most likely wouldn’ be famous. And in this case, we wouldn’t have our beloved HH.
