All things Adam have to sink in a little. I don’t always get it at first and often need a little time to digest what he is offering. I usually come away loving everything he puts out.
I think what Donna is trying to say is this doesn’t show his masculine side. Part of the beauty of Adam for me is that he is so comfortable expressing both his feminine and masculine sides of his personality – usually at the same time. This photo focuses on the feminine only. It is beautiful it just isn’t what I expected. Then again when is the last time Adam gave us what we expected?
Let’s just love him and each other and go on this ride with him.

Personally, I’m not fond of the cover. So what?! Adam Lambert is all about pushing the boundaries of what’s “normal” and he makes us love it. Hello, Ring of Fire, anyone?! That’s why we love him! I’m pretty disappointed in all the so-called fans who stand by him when he comes out taking pics with a hot woman but then turn on him when he shows another side of himself. Adam is gay, and proud of it, and makes no apologies (nor should he) when he shows that aspect of himself.
Not that that’s really even what this cover is about. He’s been going on about it for months; this is new glam, it’s something we haven’t seen before, etc. Well, guess what, this is it – this is his vision. At least listen to the freakin’ music before writing him off because of a picture!!
Also, one thing this site has always had is respect for the guys; the regulars here know that and express their feelings in a respectful manner. I hated it the second I saw it. I love GLAM (I think David Bowie in his glam days was sexy as hell), but this just didn’t do it for me. Honestly, it looks kind of cheap, like low quality. I’m not a big fan of airbrushing anyway (yes, I know everyone does it), but this was just way too much. One of the reasons why I love Adam is because of all his flaws and this just made him look TOO perfect, in a not-so-good way.
As for all the gay comments, um, hello, I thought we settled this the second he walked on camera? Yeah, he’s gay. Where have you been?
I have to agree though that ‘too-gay’ does turn some people off, BUT they wouldn’t be his fans for long anyway and I’m sure Adam wouldn’t give a fuck if he lost those fans.
I’m not sure if I would give props to Adam for being different or putting something ‘new’ out there based on this cover. I mean, this has been done (see my comment about David Bowie above). I do give props to him for staying true to himself (umm…please ignore the massive airbrushing as you read that comment) and saying fuck all else.

This is two nights in a row that posters have been personally attacked for their opinions. When did this become the policy of Candyland? I thought this was a site about love, fun and intelligent discussion. When we begin to attack each other personally and not just disagreeing on content we become just like the other hate sites. We don’t have to always agree and we won’t, but can we go back to respecting that everyone has an opinion?
People often phrase things in a way that isn’t as they intend. We have all been guilty of that. If Adam is going to be the mega star we all know he can be he needs his fans behind him not fighting among each other. He has enough hate without it coming from his fans. Off my soapbox now. I tried to count how many times “Too Gay” was posted on here, but gave up. Have any of you, who think he’s Too Gay, been watching Adam at all since January? Saying Adam is Too Gay is like complaining a cow moos (taking a line from the one and only Simone Cowell). Adam is gay, and is proud of who he is, as should all his fans. KAY, I am all for dissenting opinions, as you well know, but there has to be a line somewhere. Saying “I’m ultra gay so please don’t take me seriously as an artist” says to me that this person thinks being ultra gay somehow precluded someone from being a serious artist. I think Elton John, Rudolf Nureyev, and Oscar Wilde might take offense to this statement. Again, calling a gay man a “fairy” when he not dressed up as Tinkerbell for Halloween might not be taken in the most positive light. I personally have never used the words ‘too gay’ to describe something since I don’t know what it really means. And, yes, I’m aware it offends some people. What I wanted to say is that I’ve seen people use it to describe a man that looks too feminine. Now, some people don’t like that either, because femininity in itself isn’t a bad trait. BUT, I repeat, straight girls don’t find other girls sexually attractive. They like men. So, a man, that looks too much like a girl (some say – too gay), is not attractive. And as far as I know, most of Adam’s fans are straight women. Try to understand them. (This doesn’t mean that all straight girls dislike the picture, of course.)

I think the people who say it’s “too gay” don’t necessarily mean that literally. Maybe a better term for it would be “too campy?”
I have no problem with campy in the right place, but a professional album cover from an artist who wants to be taken seriously is NOT that place.
Everything about it looks tacky and OTT-in-a-bad-way to me. If I saw that album in a store, I would pass right over it and assume it’s crappy dance music or something because – like it or not – a lot of untastefully-campy, bad dance music comes from records with that kind of “look.”
I’m all for glam, but glam can be done in a professional, tasteful way. This looks amateurish.

I studied the pic a little longer and I think the major flaw is the airbrushing. And it just looks cheap, the design! I don’t think it’s a good album cover for European market. Too old fashioned.
And I thought the most exciting thing for HH to produce today was his condom choice and favorite underwear brand.

I agree with Lorelei – “Everything about it looks tacky and OTT-in-a-bad-way to me. If I saw that album in a store, I would pass right over it and assume it’s crappy dance music or something because – like it or not – a lot of untastefully-campy, bad dance music comes from records with that kind of “look.””

Also – his fans will buy his album anyway. But others… I truly want him to sell as many albums as possible. In the end it all comes down to music. If the music is good, people will buy it. If it’s not that good, this badly photoshopped cover makes it only worse.
Whether you like the cover or hate it, one thing you have to respect is his courage. He’s never been afraid of what he is – he’s one of the first entertainers to come out BEFORE starting their epic careers. I’m proud of him for staying true to himself and not letting his handlers try to fit him into a mainstream mold, even if that may be more comfortable for some people. That may cost him some fans in the beginning but I bet it will end up helping in in the long term. And we want him to be around for a VERY long time.
And SQUEE…Katy Perry just plugged Adam’s album on the red carpet of This is It.
People who say it’s just a picture or who cares about the font or whatever – it’s an extremely important image that represents an artist. This one makes the artist look cheap.
(I’m unable to express my thoughts in one post, sorry.) The fact that I hate the picture doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate “all the gay” that he is. It’s just a badly photoshopped and styled picture and many people agree with me. Him being true to himself has nothing to do with it. Again – he could’ve worn a pink dress and it could’ve been a quality picture. Pardon my English, not a native speaker.
Also he’s excluding all straight male buyers with this cover – half of the population.
This is so fucking upsetting, not the cover, I FUCKING LOVE the cover! It’s some of these comments and others I’ve read on other sites. A big WTF to all of you who expected something different. I love him for this cover and for staying completely true to himself…what’s with all this “I wanted this” or “I wanted that”, who the fuck cares what you wanted? This is what HE wanted and it’s perfect. GO ADAM!!!!

All of them, really? I love all the sweeping generalizations floating around tonight. Maybe these straight guys need to swallow their ego and not worry about it. Don’t think they will? I think the comments that involve “masculinity” and “being gay” and all of that stuff are a result of the AI audience that were happy with the Adam that was dealt to them on the show. “He’s gorgeous, he’s funny, he’s smart — ok…Feeling Good was a little over the top….but he’s bi-curious!”

Just caught Adam on the MTV TV coverage. He said what inspired him about Michael Jackson was his ability to be himself.

I don’t understand why a gay man can say “does it look too gay” and be fine with it but when someone else uses the term, we get out heads bit off and be called a homophobe. I know Adam is Gay, have known from day ONE and I could care less. I love that he’s gay…I want Kris Allen, a straight man to leave his wife and become Adam’s one and only true lover. I dream of this! I am all for equal rights, my uncle is gay, my best friend is gay, many of my co-workers are Gay. Years ago I dated an African American and while we broke up for several reasons, one of them was that I cared too much of what people think. So here is what I am saying, if you are Gay, be proud of who you are because I sure as hell am. I think you all effing rock because you are strong men or women! So don’t call me a homophobe because baby I am no where near that. Again, the term may not have been the right one but I thought “well if a gay man can use it, then why can I”. So that is all I am saying on the subject.
I STILL do not like the picture, love the make up, don’t like the pose and it is photoshopped too much but because I say I don’t like the picture or pose does not mean I am a horrible person.

My problem with the cover isn’t that it’s too gay, but that it’s too tacky. The stars and the photoshop and the font… But I have to give him points for being gutsy and taking chances. I can’t wait for the album.
